The program will present examples of good practice in the use of telemedicine in the prevention and treatment of cancer, cardiology and other groups of chronically ill patients. On the 21st of March, the first day of spring and only ten days before the end of the General World Exposition EXPO in Dubai, performances from Czech artists flooded the EXPO site. The Czech Republic is celebrating its national day “Czech Spring”. Shortly after 10 am, the Czech flag was raised at the central square Al Wasl Plaza, and the Czech national anthem sounded out. With many high dignitaries of the Dubai government, General Commissioners, and ambassadors from hosting countries in attendance, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, gave an introductory speech. She appreciated not only the generosity of the Dubai EXPO site but also the peaceful competition of the participants in the fields of innovation and creativity.

Two weeks before the end of the General World Exposition EXPO in Dubai, the Czech pavilion received a prize from the expert committee of the prestigious American magazine EXHIBITOR, which focuses on international fairs and expositions. The S.A.W.E.R. technology, which autonomously produces water from the dry desert air, took second place among the exhibitions of 192 nations. The first was the 360° projection in the central amphitheatre at the EXPO Al Wasl Plaza – a project of the United Arab Emirates.

There is one month left until the end of the EXPO in Dubai, and interest in the Czech pavilion is rising - even among the royal families. The gates of the General World Exposition EXPO 2020 in Dubai will close in a month - on March 31, 2022. The organizers assume that the total number of visits will exceed twenty million, despite the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Czech pavilion has already been seen by more than eight hundred thousand people, and the Commissioner General of National Participation at the EXPO believes that the number of visitors will exceed one million by the end of the exposition.

Today the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová, along with a large delegation, visited the pavilion of the Czech Republic at the EXPO 2020 World Exposition in Dubai. In addition to the technology S.A.W.E.R., which produces water from dry air and cultivates the desert, she was also interested in PSI's phenotyping unit, which reads the genetic predispositions of plants based on their responses to light and sound as well as the IQ structures nanoobjects modelled with a precision of ten nanometres.

A mobile prototype of the S.A.W.E.R. (solar-air-water-energy-resources), which autonomously produces water from the air using only solar energy, is now a part of the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai. It was installed on its premises and launched by the team from the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University. In the coming months, the team will study the Czech technology together with scientists and students from the university in Dubai. The project is meant to start a longer-term cooperation between the Czech Technical University in Prague and the Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan spontaneously arrived for a visit at the Czech Spring pavilion. He came in a golf cart driven by the minister for international cooperation, Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimi without any spectacular ceremonies. The high representatives of the United Arab Emirates and the governments of Abu Dhabi and Dubai were personally given a tour of the exhibition Czech Republic - Country for the Future by Jiří F. Potužník, the ambassador and Commissioner General of national participation at the EXPO in Dubai.

100 years ago, the word "robot" was uttered on the stage of the National Theatre in Prague for the first time. It was given to the world by the Čapek brothers - Josef invented it, then Karel incorporated it into the play "R.U.R.". From there, this timeless expression spread very quickly around the globe. Today it is a universal word whose meaning is understood by the whole world. And the robot motif is one of the main themes representing the Czech Republic at the EXPO 2020 world exhibition in Dubai.

A year later than planned, but with even greater expectations, the EXPO in Dubai will begin on the 1st of October 2021. The first-ever General World Exposition held in an Arab country will open the gates of the exhibition grounds covering more than four square kilometres, and visitors will be able to choose from the exhibits of almost two hundred exhibitors. The Czech Republic is among the sixty countries that have built their own pavilions housing the exhibits.

The National Day "Czech Spring" will take place on the premises of the EXPO in Dubai on March 21, 2022, and the Czech Republic will be presented as a land of springs, a spring of ideas and a spring garden. This date was chosen by the Office of the General Commissioner not only because it is the first spring day, but also because it is just before the Day of Happiness and just after it is the Day of Water, which is a key topic for the Czech Republic and the pavilion.

As a part of the “Pavilions Premiere” campaign, EXPO in Dubai is opening its first exposition to the public. It is the first pavilion Terra – the central building in the sustainability zone, in whose close proximity stands the Czech Republic pavilion. One year before the opening of the first General World Exposition in the Arab World, the organizers of the EXPO in Dubai published a book of fairy tales from all over the world. In it, the Czech Republic is represented by the story of the robots Radius and Helena written based on the play R.U.R. by Karel Čapek. The Czech author wrote this with the help of his brother Josef exactly one hundred years ago, and on January 25, 1921, the word robot was first heard on stage.

At the turn of August and September 2020 - for the first time since the interruption of all travel to the United Arab Emirates in April - representatives of the Office of the General Commissioner returned to the Czech pavilion at the EXPO in Dubai. This was enabled by the resumption of air connections between Prague and Dubai and a resolution by the government confirming Czech Republic's participation at the General World Exposition in the one-year postponed term.

The General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) has approved the one-year postponement of Expo 2020 Dubai. As a result, the dates of Expo 2020 Dubai have officially changed to 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022. The event will keep the name “Expo 2020 Dubai”.

On Monday the 27/04/2020, the Czech Republic supported the proposal of the Organisers of the General World Exposition to postpone the EXPO 2020 in Dubai by one year. It did so as one of the first countries that has voting rights at the International Bureau of Expositions (Bureau International des Expositions – BIE) because only BIE can decide to change the date of the EXPO.

The Steering Committee of the EXPO 2020 in Dubai will recommend that the participating countries explore the possibilities and effects of postponing the first Universal World Exposition in the Arab world by 12 months. This is due to the worldwide spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the anti-pandemic measures against the disease COVID-19. The motion was agreed upon by the participating countries General Commissioners in the Steering Committee, including the Czech Republic, along with the Organizers of the EXPO 2020 in Dubai and the leadership of the International Bureau of Exhibitions BIE in Paris.

On the 13th of March 2019, the Czech Republic became one of the first of 190 participating countries to break ground for the construction of its pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The two-storey building, which will be built based on the design from the architectural studio Formosa AA, will be located next to the entrance gate to the Sustainability district and it will offer an exhibition representing Czech scientific discoveries and innovations.

Scientists from the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings of CTU have connected a mineralization unit WatiMin, from the company EuroClean, to the prototype of the S.A.W.E.R. system, which creates water out of the air using solar energy and which is capable of cultivating the desert using subsurface cultures (solar-air-water-energy-resources). The technological core of the national exposition at the EXPO 2020 in Dubai is a joint project of the CTU and the Czech Academy of Sciences, but private companies will also participate in its construction.

In a lab in Buštěhrad, where desert climatic conditions are being simulated, the scientists from the University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) CTU brought to life the machine that makes water out of the air. The mobile version of the S.A.W.E.R. system (solar-air-water-earth -resources) is the size of a shipping container and is capable of producing up to one hundred litres of water per day – the capacity of this technology integrated into the national pavilion at the EXPO 2020 in Dubai should be fivefold.

The national pavilion at the World Exposition Expo 2020 in Dubai will be built based on the architectural design of young Czech architects from the company Formosa AA Inc., who are also doctoral students at the CTU in Prague, Faculty of Architecture. It will be built by a consortium of the companies MCI Prague Inc. and a Swiss company NÜSSLI. Similar to the Expo 2015 in Milan, Czech Republic will only rent the pavilion from its creators - it will cost 84 million crowns.
