The National Pavilion at the General World Fair in Dubai EXPO 2020 welcomed its half-millionth visitor. Mr Ian Sparrow, originally from England, has lived in Dubai for over twenty years and came to the exposition Czech Republic - Country for the Future based on the recommendations of friends who have already seen the Czech pavilion.
"I especially like the mirror wall Fluidum," said Ian Sparrow, a 65-year-old manager accompanied by Rhii Hughes, who added that she especially liked the real technologies that the pavilion presents.
The Office of the General Commissioner presented the jubilee visitor with the attention provided by partners from the ranks of Czech companies that present themselves at the EXPO as part of the Country for the Future exhibition.
"In addition to a silver coin from the Czech Mint with the same design as the one-hundred-million coin, which also happens to be the largest gold coin in the world, we proudly handed Mr Sparrow a Tonak hat that fit him perfectly, a limited edition Subfossil Oak candle made from wood that’s over six thousand years old, and several other small items, including Prague Chocolate,” specifies Commissioner-General Jiří František Potužník. He also invited the couple to the Bohemia restaurant for lunch and Pilsner Urquell draught beer.
According to the organizers, more than ten million people have visited the EXPO. That is undoubtedly a success, given the impact of the anti-pandemic measures against the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19. The first World Fair in the Arab world will run until March 31, 2022, and the Dubai authorities believe that the number of twenty million visits will be conquered by then.
