S.A.W.E.R. technology won silver in the international competition of the magazine EXHIBITOR

Two weeks before the end of the General World Exposition EXPO in Dubai, the Czech pavilion received a prize from the expert committee of the prestigious American magazine EXHIBITOR, which focuses on international fairs and expositions. The S.A.W.E.R. technology, which autonomously produces water from the dry desert air, took second place among the exhibitions of 192 nations. The first was the 360° projection in the central amphitheatre at the EXPO Al Wasl Plaza – a project of the United Arab Emirates.

“S.A.W.E.R. is not just a technology that can improve life in a number of places on our planet but also a demonstration of the innovative potential of our universities and research teams in several fields,” says Jakub Dytrich from the University Centre of Energy Efficient Buildings of the Czech Technical University (CTU), which developed the system. “Also, the S.A.W.E.R. story does not end at the EXPO – several companies are interested in acquiring the license, and the research is ongoing, including a collaboration with the Rochester Institute of Technology in Dubai.”

“My original ambition was to take the theme Connecting Minds – Creating the Future and contribute a system that connects five Czech innovations and can create an oasis in the desert,” says Jiří František Potužník, the Commissioner General of the Czech pavilion, “the team from CTU managed to create a technology that is not only functional but also commercially interesting”.

The EXPO in Dubai ends on the 31st of March, and ten days before the end, the National Day of the Czech Republic will take place there. The series of artistic performances and concerts will culminate with the multimedia show iMucha, during which the paintings of the Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha will be brought to life by the music of Czech classics.
